Preparing the Way offers the opportunity and challenge to journey toward Bethlehem and the manger by exploring the Revised Common Lectionary readings designated for this Advent season. As she guides us through the lectionary texts of Advent 2012 in Preparing the Way, Sue Mink inspires us to claim for ourselves the call to prepare our hearts, our minds, and our lives for the coming of Jesus Christ in his birth and in his second coming. The Leader Guide, written by Nan Duerling, is combined with the Student Book allowing more flexibility for leading the study.

Sue Mink creates artwork that explores the intersection between art and theology. She is a graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary where she held an artist-in-residency in 2004. Sue also holds a design degree from Carnegie-Mellon University. She has created several murals for local churches and conducted seminars on her concept of "Visual Choirs", a group exercise for creating artwork for use in worship. Sue loves to teach both adult and youth studies. She's traveled the world with her husband, Allan, a retired Air Force pilot, and now lives in Leesburg, Virginia. In her free time, she enjoys art, rock concerts, knitting, scuba diving, and cooking. Sue and her husband have two adult children, Jessica and Rob. Nan Duerling holds a Bachelor's degree in English and secondary education from Towson State University, a Masters in education and curriculum development from Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in literature from American University. Nan is formerly an adjunct faculty member of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. For more than 20 years, she has written youth and adult curriculum for several denominations. She has been general editor of The New International Lesson Annual since 1995.
