Using the Book of Romans as expositional studies, Donald Grey Barnhouse carefully examines Paul's letter phrase by phrase, plumbing its immediate meaning as well as placing it in the larger context of Scripture. This allows Scripture to be interpreted by Scripture, bringing all the correlated truths of the Word to bear on each line and word of the epistle. This set is a wealth of interpretive material from a master exegete.

DGB took years to preach through Romans, and this is the written version of his messages. I bought the set years ago and highly recommend it. In addition to being a good collection of messages on Romans, it shows Barnhouse's wonderful knack of illustration. Great example of this quality for teachers and preachers.

I recently purchased this set, and I must say it is well worth the money. As I read it along with my Bible it really opens up what Paul is saying. I would recommend this to anyone who is studying the book of Romans.

An absolutely excellent piece of work. Barnhouse' work on Romans is a masterpiece. His biblical exegesis is doctrinally and most importantly, scripturally sound.
It is very readable, and clearly woven together. You can read it as you would any other book, or use it as a phenomenal commentary. It excels in both arenas.
As for the construct; The typeset is clear. The binding of the book is very solid with gold lettering on the outside of the book. The paper is not thin, and you will be able to write notes on it.

Vol 2: Chapters 3-5:1-21

Barnhouse really spends a lot of time dealing with issues other then the Scripture. I would not recommend this set.

This commentary set on Romans should be on the bookshelf of every student of scripture... right next to Luther's commentary on Romans.
