Bar Barakah means in the Hebrew language: "Son of the Blessing." Parents the world over are rediscovering the need to bless their children at the time of puberty and release them into adulthood. For centuries, Jewish parents have done so through a Bar/Bat Mitzvah (Son/Daughter of the Law) ceremony. Craig Hill has written this book as a practical, "how to" guide for Christian parents seeking to similarly release their children into God's image of adult identity and destiny. This book will give you the what, where, when, who, why and how of conducting a Christian Bar Barakah ceremony for your children.
This is a powerful but brief introduction on how to offer your parental blessing to your children as they prepare to enter adulthood. The greatest gifts we can give our children are not material things but spiritual gifts. Bar Barakah helps identify the major areas of preparation for and the joyful benefits from participating in this ancient and beautiful ceremony of blessing. During one of my recent book hunting adventures in Camden, Maine, I spotted a 10-foot display marked “Women’s Issues” containing hundreds of titles. I went to the sales clerks and innocently asked where the “Men’s Issues” books might be found. The ladies winked to one another and responded, “We wouldn’t have anything like that here!” So we seem to have two problems: women with lots of unsettled issues and men who are not even aware of what the issues are! The ideas presented in this book may be just what the next generation needs to settle these “issues” (of identity, destiny, and authority) once and for all. Highly recommended! 68 pages, softcover from Family Foundations.

Excellent!!
As a Spanish pastor I was looking for a way specifically to honor the young boys in the church as they watched the elaborate sweet 16 or Quincenera. This was and is it! An excellent way to now become tied by the Law but understanding the importance of blessing our young men and women as Christians! WONDERFUL. My ONLY gripe is that it is not done in Spanish for my Spanish Colleagues.

Has some very good information on what to do for preparation of a Bar/Bat Barakah as well as for the ceremony and celebration afterwards. It had well thought out lists of commitments and ceremony suggestions and a sample "Fathers Blessing." The only thing I didn't like is I think there was to much promo for the authors other books.
