Eighteen years ago, Sarah Maddox and Kevin Nichols gave their baby son up for adoption and went their separate ways. Now Trey Miller is graduating from high school and has agreed to meet the birthparents he never knew. Sarah, eager to see the eighteen-year-old boy she remembers as her tiny newborn, is unprepared when Kevin shows up, too, and their lives become entangled once again.

Annette WilsonZimbabweAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Further Insight into Families Dealing with AdoptAugust 1, 2012Annette WilsonZimbabweAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is the first book that I have read by Mildred Colvin and hopefully not my last! Reading more about the author, I see that Mildred has her own personal experience with adoption.
At a young age, Sarah was forced to give up her son for adoption. As it turns out that it was an open adoption, with the agreement being that at the age of eighteen, Sarah would be allowed to meet her son.
Unbeknown to Sarah, Kevin has also been informed on their son's progress by the adoptive parents. So, the same day that she gets to meet Trey, she literally bumps into Kevin.
There is pain that needs to be worked through as Sarah and Kevin are put into situations where they are put "together" again.
Sarah must also choose between following her heart and risk being hurt by Kevin or accepting a marriage proposal from the doctor, who wants to take her as his wife, and sees her as a great step-mom for his daughter.
I loved seeing how Trey related to his birth parents and adoptive parents. As shown in this book, sometimes adoption does turn out to be the best answer. Only wish that all adoptions turned out this perfect!
