Christy Williams finally has her life on track. She's putting her past behind her and working hard to build a career as an antiquarian book buyer. But things begin to unravel when a stolen Hemingway first edition is found in her possession, framing her for a crime she didn't commit. With no one to turn to, she yearns for her estranged younger sister, May, whom she abandoned after their parents' untimely deaths. Soon, Christy's fleeing from her shattered dreams, her ex-boyfriend, and God. Could May's Triple Cross Ranch be the safe haven she's searching for? Will the sisters realize that each possesses what the other desperately needs before it's too late? A stunning debut from the latest Christian Writers Guild winner.

Tell us a little about yourself. I was homeschooled Grades 1-12. I began writing the story that would become Thicker than Blood when I was fifteen. I've been in the antiquarian bookselling business for over a decade, scouting for stores similar to the one described in Thicker than Blood before cofounding my own online bookstore. In 2006 I cofounded the Christian entertainment Web site TitleTrakk.com with my sister, Tracy, and I've been actively promoting Christian fiction through book reviews and author interviews ever since.
What was your motivation behind this project? When I first started Thicker than Blood, I had no idea it would ever be published! All I knew was that I wanted to write a story about two estranged sisters, and I wanted to have some sort of redeeming storyline.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? First of all, I hope people who read Thicker than Blood enjoy the story. I never want to sacrifice story for a message. But I also would love for people to come away with the understanding that no one is ever too far gone for God to love. That's a message I hope permeates all my writing.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? My journey is a little different than some because I started this book as a teenager. Over the years Thicker than Blood developed as I grew in my craft. I learned how to write by writing this book, so I was impacted greatly through the process.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? There are so many! But I must credit Frank Peretti's Piercing the Darkness for inspiring me to write Christian fiction. I love the journey, both physical and spiritual, his character Sally Beth Roe experienced. Some more of my favorite authors are James Scott Bell, Sibella Giorello, Tim Downs, Jenny B. Jones, Randy Singer, Renee Riva, Jerry B. Jenkins, James David Jordan ... I could go on and on! I'm always discovering new favorites.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I loved how I was able to incorporate some of my rare book selling experiences in this story. A first edition of Ernest Hemingway's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" plays an important role in the book.
