If only this book had been published years ago! Better late than never...I have not discovered a book in my nine years of homeschooling that is the greatest, most invaluable treasure as a resource and reference book for everything you could possibly need for teaching. These "lists" are quick and concise. They allow you to follow and prepare for timelines on any or refer to pertinent information gleaned from all core topics. I am certain I am going to wear out my copy long before I am finished homeschooling!

WOW! I wondered if such a book existed, then found this. This book is a GREAT compilation of information at your fingertips. Would and have already recommended it to many of my homeschooling friends. It's really cool.

Tell us a little about yourself. People always ask how I can get any writing done and basically when I'm not doing things with my five children or my husband, I spend all spare moments writing. Also, Chris (my husband) is very supportive of my writing endeavors and he watches the children when I have deadlines or if I just need to go write for a while.
What was your motivation behind this project? About six years ago, I thought... Man, wouldn't it be great if there were a book with the MOST needed information for home schoolers? I didn't want to buy several expensive books on individual subjects and there were already enough home school books on the market that told newbies "You CAN do it!" I felt that there should be something beyond that... Many home educators don't need to be convinced that it's the right choice for their family and they are beyond the questioning stage of "Is this right for my family?" They want resources that will help them do a better job of what they know God has called them to do. The other BIG part of the book is the last two chapters... In these two chapters are lists specifically for the parent-teacher. These lists include different homeschooling methods and how you can use the book with each one, reading lists, and checklists of the most popular books home schoolers use so that they can check them off as the read them or add them to their home library. I LOVE this section!
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope home schoolers will realize that this is the sort of book that they can carry with them to find facts in an instant just when they need them. I was at a restaurant yesterday trying to recall the name of the man who wrote Amazing Grace. My daughter said, "John Wesley... or Charles... or something like that." I said, "I think it's in the book - let's look!" Sure enough, we found the answer (John Newton) and I bet we won't forget it again because we found the answer just when we were having the discussion. Also, with the last two chapters, you can use the book at bookstores and such to make sure you don't buy duplicates of books and to share information about different homeschooling methods with people who ask.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? For one thing, I learned a lot!
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I really like to read authors of juvenile fiction, such as Jim Murphy and Russell Freedman. One of my favorite authors is Jean Fritz and if I want to read fiction, I pick up a Beverly Lewis novel (Beverly also happens to write for Bethany House). My daughter loves Bryan Davis, who writes juvenile fiction and I've really been enjoying his books lately as well! He is a very talented writer.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Feel free to contact me if you have questions. I love to encourage new home schoolers or answer questions from people interested in home education. A lot of people misunderstand home schoolers and I wish they would ask questions rather than make assumptions. (For example, many people assume that home schoolers don't like public school, but for most of us, we simply want more family time, believe that God has called us to teach our children and we would be disobeying if we didn't, or we just really want to nurture our children's hearts.) Either way, we want what most Christian parents seek - for our children to grow into Godly, honorable, intelligent young men and women who love others more than themselves and seek God with all their hearts.
