Product Description

Sixteen-year-old Nathan Shepherd has a great life traveling where the careers of his father, an investigator, and mother, a renowned violinist, take him. . . until his parents are found murdered. Left with only a mirror and notes from his father's last case, Nathan goes into hiding at the remote country home of Tony, his father's college buddy, and Tony's teenage daughter, Kelly. The mysterious mirror must be a clue to what happened to his parents, and when images appear in it-people and things that don't exist-Nathan and Kelly painstakingly gather evidence. But the killers want the mirror too, and danger threatens the teens at every turn. As it becomes evident that Nathan's father had stumbled upon dark forces at work in the world, several questions arise. Could it be that the mirror is a portal to a parallel world? Could this technology be used for evil purposes? And could his parents still be alive, trapped in another dimension? Nathan and Kelly struggle to solve the mystery before they too become victims.

I got into this book right from the beginning. Though all the different parallel universes kind confused me,it was great. This is the best book I've read of Bryan Davis's.I'm looking forward to reading the next book Eternity's Edge!

Sixteen-year-old Nathan Shepherd has an unusual life traveling the world with his investigator father, his world-renowned violinist mother, and his personal tutor. Something goes wrong at a concert in Chicago that results in the death of his parents. Nathan moves to a small town to live with a childhood friend of his father’s and his teenage daughter Kelly. He takes little with him: his mother’s violin and the Quattro mirror his father had insisted he keep safe. As Nathan tries to adapt to his new life, he discovers that his small mirror is the missing piece of a wall-sized mirror in his new bedroom. Once the mirror is whole, Nathan stumbles onto a mystery. The mirror shows him things. But are they his dreams? the future? or a different world? Could his parents still be alive? Nathan and Kelly must work together to figure it all out. Wow. This was a completely unexpected and unique story. I’ve read a few books before that deal with different dimensions, and although this one did get a bit confusing, it was much easier to understand for this non-science girl. I liked Nathan’s character a lot. This world needs a lot more “perfect gentlemen.” I also really enjoyed how the plot kept unfolding. I sort of saw the ending coming, but I didn’t know how Bryan Davis was going to get us there. Overall, this was a really entertaining, fast-paced story. My kind of book. My kind of unique plot. My kind of story. Highly recommended.

When I say this is a crazy book I mean it! I do not mean that in a bad way, it is just that this book will take you on a wild journey. The journey is great and really exciting but still wild at the same time. Join a boy named Nathan who has to cope with the loss of his parents and the discovery that the world is not what it seems. A great adventure for teenagers and up. Sit back in your chair, set it to the relax stage and pick up this book. Buy this book and you will not be disappointed!

If anything, Beyond the Reflection's Edge is more relevant to the culture today than the Dragons in Our Midst books. Although Bryan Davis certainly does a lot of what I like to call "rearranging the universe," he manages to keep the "lesson" very close to home, at least for this teen. I could not have been more encouraged and challenged by Nathan Shepherd's commitment to purity, and I became more aware of the consequences of my choices after reading this book. I will definitely be reading the next one as soon as I can.

Easily comparable to Ted Decker and Peratti, this book is an amazing fantasy with so many twists and turns if I had to read into the night. I can't wait for the sequel.

I'm an older reader and because I love fantasy and read some good reviews of this book, I decided to go ahead and read it. Its quite a gripping book of science fiction and multi-dimensional theories. Davis (as shown in his Dragon in our midst series) is in no question an excellent man of great imagination. I really enjoy his plot and ideas. They're always suspenseful and creative. However, I do have to agree with others who rated this book a little bit lower. The main character, Nathan, is just so awkward to read about. Even though Davis purposely tries to avoid it, Nathan comes across as "Awkward" and "slightly below Elitist" when it comes to his views regarding Kelly. Its so awkward to read about their hormonal interaction and Kelly's "past". Sure being a teen is an awkward time but seriously, when your avoiding a hitman and fighting an evil mad 'being' and entering other dimensions, do you really have time to think about this: "his dad told him never to touch a woman intimately" or whether what Kelly wears is appropriate???? Its cool for Davis to incorporate appropriate "thoughts" and modesty in the book but the way he does it is just too awkward x 10. Its not well done at all! The book feels like it was written for preteens and not the targeted teenage group. Meyer's mainstream teenage hit book "Twilight" is better than this because the character development is so much above and beyond. If Davis wrote this series not for teenagers (wrote like it was for adults but with teenage characters) and with more character development that ran smoothly, this book could of been just unbelievable. Maybe even in the mainstream market. But its not that good.

Wow! Beyond the Reflection’s Edge is just as powerful, action-packed, and deep as Dragons In Our Midst and Oracles of Fire. Each word continued to drag me into the story and share Nathan’s and Kelly’s adventures. Sometimes I felt as though I could hear the music, even if I didn't necessarily know one of the pieces Nathan was playing. From beginning to end I felt as though I were truly there, feeling the tension, the heartache, the fear, and even the laughter of all characters involved. I say "Bravo!" to Bryan Davis. Keep it up - I can't wait to read the next one!
