In The Jesus Storybook Bible, every story whispers his name. It tells the story beneath all the stories in the Bible.
The Jesus Storybook Bible is unlike any other storybook. True, thats to be expected when you combine the mesmerizing illustrations of Jago and the award-winning writing of Sally Lloyd-Jones, a Brit with an uncanny knack for storytelling. Not only is each story as vividly illustrated as it is portrayed, but also each tale is telling one Big Storythe Story of Jesus. Even the Old Testament stories of The young hero and the horrible giant and Daniel and the scary sleepover come full circle to Jesus, the greatest Hero, King, Lover and Rescuer the world has ever known. "The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name disproves the adage that you cant judge a book by its cover. Jagos award-winning cover art is a foretaste of the whimsically insightful and richly colored drawings that await you on every one of the books 351 pages. The illustrations alone are worth the price of the book
.Jago the illustrator, and Sally Lloyd-Jones the author, are a good pair. She brings the same creativity and sense of humor to her telling of the Bibles stories
.But Lloyd-Joness writing isnt cutesy. She has a grasp of the profound. How does one explain to a child the agony of Jesus in Gethsemane, and his prayer of surrender to his Father? Lloyd-Jones does it as well as any biblical commentator
.The title and subtitle are even better than the books delightful illustrations and narrative -- because they provide, in one deft stroke, the interpretive key that unlocks the meaning of the whole Bible. The Jesus Storybook Bible says it all: The Scriptures are not merely a collection of stories designed to teach moral lessons. As Jesus explained to the men walking the road to Emmaus on Resurrection Sunday, the whole Bible is about Jesus. In the words of the subtitle, every story whispers his name
.Lloyd-Jones manages to show again and again the presence of Christ in all the Old Testament Scriptures, and the presence of the Old Testament Scriptures in the life of Christ." Christianity Today

This is a wonderful book, beautifully tying together the Old and New Testaments and pointing to Christ in every story. While we as parents were aware of the many "types" of Christ in the OT, this book has taught and reminded us of many more. Highly recommend it!

I LOVE this Bible. I try to read it with my kids everyday. The stories are easy to understand and it does a beautiful job of tying Jesus into every story in the Bible, both Old and New Testaments. My kids love it and I am encouraged every time I read it with them.

This is one of the best children story book bible I have come to read. Good even for adults since many today tend to miss the point on what the Bible is essentially all about. Highly recommended as Jesus takes His rightful place in this book.

This is by far the best children's Bible story book out there. There is a review that states that Sally Lloyd-Jones made an error in the story of Abraham and Isaac. The reviewer said that the author erred in saying Isaac was Abraham's only son and that it was not Biblical. It is in the Bible,Genesis 22:2, And He said,"Take now your son, your only son,..."(NAS). It is true every story whispers Jesus' name. An excellent book for young and old alike. I'm 53 and just love listening to these well told stories. I am going to use this book as a means of witnessing. The book really shows the heart of God and why He gave us the Bible. Just an excellent book!

Tell us a little about yourself. I am a British born children's book writer living in New York City.
I came to the States from the UK in 1989--just for a year. I"m
still here.
I have worked for several years as the publisher of Christian
Children's Books for Reader's Digest before leaving in 2000 to
write full time.
I have written three other best-selling children's Bibles: Baby's
First Bible; A Child's First Bible; and The Lift-The-Flap Bible. I
can be found at sallylloyd-jones.com
What was your motivation behind this project? I wrote this so children could know that God is for them and loves
them with a Never Stopping, Never Giving up, Unbreaking, Always
and Forever Love.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the Story beneath all the stories of
the Bible. It takes the whole Bible to tell the Story. And at the center
of the Story, there is a baby, the Child upon whom everything
would depend. From Noah to Moses to King David, every story
whispers his name. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle--the
piece that makes all the other pieces fit together.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? As far as writers go: C S Lewis, Edward Lear, A A Milne, James
Marshall, to name just a very few... and teachers: Dr Timothy Keller,
pastor of my church in New York City; Fredreck Buechner; Helmut
Thielecke; Brennan Manning

"It's like an adventure story about a young Hero who came from
a far country to win back his lost treasure. It's a love story about
a brave
Prince who leaves his palace, his throne, everything to rescue
the one he loves. It's like the most wonderful of fairy tales that
have come true in real life.
You see, the best thing about this story is--it's true.
It takes the whole Bible to tell this story. And at the center of the
Story there is a baby. Every story in the Bible whispers his name.
He is like the missing piece in a puzzle--the piece that makes all
the other pieces fit together and suddenly you can see a
beautiful picture.
And this is no ordinary baby. This is the Child upon whom
everything would depend. This is the baby that would one day--
but wait, our story starts where all good stories start. Right at
the very beginning..."
