You cant trust the Bible; its been translated too many times. Jesus never claimed to be the Messiah or God. Science has proven that miracles dont happen (so the Bible is a fairytale). All religions basically teach the same thing (so all paths lead to God). Have you heard these? People say a lot of things about the Bible, God, Jesus, and Christianity that are simply not true. Like the guys on the popular cable show Mythbusters, its time we put these commonly held myths to the test. Following a brief summary of a recurring myth or misconception about the Christian faith, Fred explains why the myth is false and provides biblical and historical evidence in his response. He masterfully weaves together serious discussion with a touch of humor in his responses, all the while keeping the focus on the Scriptures. He avoids making fun of the people who hold views which differ from his own, but the views themselves are fair game. So grab a cup of coffee and find a cozy corner. Lets do a little myth busting of our own.
Fred von Kamecke is an adjunct professor at North Park University, a freelance writer, and minister at large in the Chicago area, where he resides with his wife, Patty. He had also served as adjunct professor at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where he received his PhD (New Testament).
Maria Marino5 Stars Out Of 5March 10, 2009Maria MarinoAnd then there was light in the murky tunnel of blind myth-conceptionAha! BUSTED! You know right off by the title and cover that this book pierces the dark confines of the popular myths of Christianity with laser-sharp light. Theres no room for shady shadows to lurk as Fred von Kamecke unveils layer upon layer of myth-conceptions to reveal the unmistakable, gospel truth. Written in a light-hearted colloquial style, Busted! presents compelling arguments with smooth and captivating delivery. Though served with humour and simplicity, theres plenty of meat to sink your teeth into. His points are solidly supported by diligent fact-finding, scriptural evidence, and the going deeper resource section. You will also find depth and breadth in the subjects chosen to be de-mythisized. From the reliability of the Bible to the identity of Jesus to the difference between Islam, Judaism and Christianity, von Kamecke reliably separates fact from fiction with precision and clarity.More than exposing popular myths about Christianity, it answers the so what? question. If God is faithful, if He in fact loves people more than anything, if His Word is true and He keeps His promises, then we have a treasure to share and a message worth defending. And thats the point of knowing the truth bringing it to life. And thats no myth!
