Nooma #5: Noise, DVD

Why is silence so hard to deal with? Why is it so much easier for us to live our lives with a lot of things going on all the time than to just be in silence? We're constantly surrounded with "voices" that are influencing us on how to think, feel, and behave. Movies, music, TV, Internet, cell phones, and a never ending barrage of advertising. There's always something going on. Always noise in our lives. But maybe there's a connection between the amount of noise in our lives and our inability to hear God. If God sometimes feels distant to us, maybe it's not because he's not talking to us, but simply because we aren't really listening. Noise is the fifth DVD of the NOOMA ® series - short films appropriate for personal and small group settings, congregational meetings, and much more. Like parables, they use the experiences of our lives to teach about the fullness of life through Jesus, tackling issues like forgiveness, discipleship, and unconditional love. I read the bible passages and saw the dvd three times. I am treally enjoying these nooma dvds I bought. I am looking forward to the other ones too.

The several NOOMA series that we've been watching in our Sunday School class have been excellent. They're in the 'now' in that they are revelant & their presentation is short. The message is Biblically based & the study guide provokes questions & thoughts for discussion.

Noise is an excellent illustration of the world that we surround ourselves with. It is also a very powerful check point of where we are with our own relationship with God.

We use this series of DVDs in our Men's Fellowship. Noise is so creatively done however I was concerned that our men would not sit still for it. How wrong I was. A man, in his mid 70s, said that they message contained in this particular DVD touched his heart and brought together the thoughts of his spiritual journey like nothing else has. He offered this thought with tears in his eyes. This Nooma series has captured the minds and hearts of our men and provides a wonderful beginning for thoughtful discussion about our Christian faith.
