Publisher's Description

In this book, Dr. Henry Cloud gets to the heart of the issues dating raises for many readers and gets them on the road to fun and fulfillment in the single life.

Library Journal

Drawing on more than ten years' experience coaching singles on dating, Cloud attempts to help readers overcome either stale or unfruitful dating. He encourages singles to think about dating not only as a way to find a mate but also as a means to learn, grow, and experience other people. Activities like keeping a journal and reaching a quota of meeting potential dates per week are suggested, as are honest self-reflection and behavior. Cloud also challenges unrealistic fantasies such as waiting for God to provide the perfect person and hoping that the relationship will solve life's problems. Though written from a Christian perspective, this book does not proselytize, and the advice is sound. However, it will be more readily picked up in Christian communities, for which it is recommended. I enjoyed reading this book and appreciated Dr. Cloud's perspective. In principle it is similar to "Dating With Integrity" by John Holzmann but gives the nuts and bolts to carrying out such dating. Dating is seen as a means to getting to know a variety of people in order to become more aware of the variety of people "out there" and then to determine from there who might make a suitable marriage partner. This is in contrast to having a pre-determined ideal (that may never be met) and "waiting" for the "right one".

This book has radically changed my view on dating, and how to approach dating from a biblical perspective. Less than a year ago I desired to get back into the dating scene, and felt that I needed to arm myself with some true knowledge and some real tangible ways to kick start this part of my life which has been virtually nonexistent. I could not put this book down. I take it everywhere that I go to reinforce my new belief system regarding dating. This is a must read for anyone who is looking to start over after a long-time off the scene or who have had unhealthy patterns that need correcting. This is an AWESOME BOOK!, and if you're ready to grow and stretch your faith to date then start with this book. I am recommending it to my girlfriends.

I absolutely loved this book and recommend it. I was one of the characters that he described in the book who had shunned the idea of dating but Dr. Cloud gives amazing insight to true dating. This is a book I recommend to all my family and friends.

This book was very informative and helpful. The part about talking to five new people a week seems a bit intimidating; I'm not sure I'm ready yet for that:). Some of the latter chapters, about "getting healthy" were very helpful. Some of those questions about character are ones I need to be asking concerning myself as well. A very realistic look at dating.

This Book Is So Much Better than I Kissed Dating Goodbye; Dr. Henry Cloud has written a powerful book that deals with dating, but more specifically a program of steps to get you dating. Once you open the book Dr. Cloud will show you a common dating premise that you will understand in dealing with issues like Accountability, introspection, relational values, expectations, along with biblical principles and so much more. I believe that many Christian Singles Groups & Young Adult/College Groups will endorse and develop courses that encompass the principles that Cloud reveals in this book. Dr. Cloud's plan will work, but you will need to work the plan... be ready to be encouraged, follow the steps as it is outlined in the book and you'll be on your way to a successful dating life.
