Publisher's Description

The only thing scarier than living on the edge is stepping off it.

Maggie Montgomery lives a life of adventure. Her job as a cinematographer takes her from one exotic locale to the next. When Maggie’s not working, she loves to rappel off cliffs or go skydiving. Nothing frightens her.

Nothing, that is, except Ivy, Texas, where a family emergency pulls her back home to a town full of bad memories, painful secrets, and people Maggie left far behind . . . for a reason.

Forced to stay longer than she intended, Maggie finds her family a complete mess, including the niece her sister has abandoned. Ten-year-old Riley is struggling in school and out of control at home. The only person who can really handle the pint-sized troublemaker is Conner, the local vet and Ivy’s most eligible bachelor. But Conner and Maggie keep butting heads--he’s suspicious of her and, well, she doesn’t rely on anyone but herself.

As Maggie humorously fumbles her way from one mishap to another, she realizes she’s going to need to ask for help from the one person who scares her the most.

To save one little girl--and herself--can Maggie let go of her fears and just trust God?

There are some books you might remember for a week, a month, or even a year or two. However, THIS, is a book you will remember for a lifetime. No wonder it was chosen as a Women of Faith fiction pick of 2009! If you’ve read the other books Jenny has written, you know it’s going to be full of hilarious situations and dialogue. Yet Jenny still manages to maintain the mood when the scene is serious. Yes, it’s a romance, but it’s also a bit more, it’s funny, endearing, sincere, and above all, fear-conquering. This is one I’ll be keeping on the shelf and reading over and over again

Jones jumps genre into adult romance with the aplomb of a professional ballet dancer. Her knack for flawlessly juggling humor and life’s grittier issues now enhances the grown-up woman’s romance. Jones’ teen readers have leapt with her into the adult market without a hitch—if the teens I know are any indication. Jones will, no doubt, add a legion of adults to her following. Bravo! For any who wondered if Jones could master a full-on romance. She totally brings it.

It's not often that you find an author who makes you laugh, think, fall in love and challenges your faith all in one novel. But Jenny B. Jones does that every time. Just Between You and Me delivers the same. Maggie Montgomery is an adventurous cinematographer. She is fearless in work, and in recreation. When she returns home to help her family through a time of crisis, she faces memories of her past mistakes, mishaps, and life. Everything she tried to forget comes back. And conflicts with Connor, the local veterinarian and most eligible of bachelors, challenge her to face the one thing she does fear. This is a beautiful love story ripe with human frailties, failures, hopes, and faith. As Maggie tries to help her ten-year-old nice, Riley, through the difficulty of her mother's abandonment, she must let go of her own fears. Maggie and Connor must learn to trust God for all they need and each other for love. I love the way Jenny can make you laugh out loud and touch your heart at the same time. Women of Faith picked well to add Jenny B. Jones to their list of authors.

I have read all of Jenny B. Jones’ books, and Just Between You and Me is now my favorite! Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved the other ones as well, but this book was a great mixture of both the normal sass along with a great message about faith. It blows me away how this author can write all of her books that make me catch myself laughing out loud! Just Between You and Me had a lot of funny one-liners! However, it also made me reevaluate my walk with the Lord, and enabled me to realize that I also don’t always give everything over to Him. I would HIGHLY recommend Just Between You and Me to anyone at any age. You will thoroughly enjoy this book and won't be able to put it down until the end. You will love it!

I was introduced to Jenny B. Jones' books earlier this year when I read So Not Happening, which is considered YA but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Just Between You and Me is written for adult women, a Women of Faith book from Thomas Nelson and I was very eager to dive into reading it. It is the story of Maggie Montgomery, a cinematographer who seems unflappable, except when it comes to her family. She has to return to her hometown of Ivy, Texas to face some bad memories and challenging family situations. She finds herself having to care for her ten year old niece and having to deal with an annoying town vet named Conner. I love Jones' style of weaving humor into her books. Her characters are always so interesting and engaging. Also, I love the way Jones handled something that most people have experienced: crazy family members! Jones explores the family dynamic in a very real way. She also shows that no matter how dysfunctional a family, love covers a multitude of sins. Jones has eared herself a slot on my repeat-buy author list. I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.

Jenny B. Jones has done it again! And her move from YA to women's fiction brings her humorous yet touching stories to a whole new audience. I laughed out loud many times while reading this well woven story, but I was also moved by the characters' struggles and search for faith that overcomes fear. The hero and heroine are memorable, and young Riley really grabbed my heart. It's a page-turner for sure!

Jenny, Jenny who can I turn to You give me something I can hold on to Okay, aside from the fact that those 2 lines are a mini tribute to Tommy Tutone and a famous phone number, they are true. I look forward to every book Jenny B. Jones writes and she has yet to let me down. First off a great YA series, the Katie Parker series, and then she follows that up with So Not Happening the first of The Charmed Life series. Admittedly they are both considered YA series (but come on, she's a high school teacher and she knows her audience very well!) but I have thoroughly enjoyed them. I was curious to see how her first turn at women's fiction went, you know, the whole if it ain't broke don't fix it kind of thing... I'm so glad she decided to fix it. Jenny takes some tough subjects - abandonment, mental disease, suicide (?), forgiveness and bitterness and does an amazing thing by adding some incredible characters (Maggie is wonderful and you can feel the struggle she is going through in trying to protect herself and also do the right thing, and don't get me started on Riley and how she tries so hard to put up a wall so she won't get hurt again but she just wants to be loved) throwing in some good humor and topping it off with wonderful realism (the relationship between Maggie and her dad and seeing her reaction to how he treats Riley now was so real that I couldn't believe it!) and she winds up with an amazing story. I wish this wasn't a stand alone book, but I think it is. If not, I really hope to see Maggie Montgomery in print again someday, what a gal!

I like to read a book about family relationships. So I followed the growth of the relationship between Maggie and her estranged niece Riley. Hidden secrets come to light as the story progresses. And I love a puzzle. Maggie's Christian growth is very much a part of the story. Living down her teenaged past is another thread. This story is a message of hope and grace. No wonder it was given the stamp of a "Woman of Faith Fiction."
