Publisher's Description

Brace yourself for a thrilling high-seas adventure and dare to set sail for the Isle of Fire."A great explosion rocked the crowded harbor. The ferocious blaze engulfed ship after ship expanding the circle of destruction in mere heartbeats. The fire rain had been unleashed."As Cat’s memory returns, he realizes that he has lived two very different lives. Now he must choose whether to return to the ways of his notorious father and join the evil Merchant, or defy the Merchant and risk his life to save his friends. The best-selling Isle of Swords adventure continues in Isle of Fire as ancient mariners rise from legend and cut an all-too-real swath of destruction across the Atlantic. The newly formed Wolf Fleet scours the Caribbean, hunting the pirates they once called comrades. And in the pitiless winds of a monstrous hurricane, whole fleets will be blasted apart and devoured.

Isle of Fire is an adventurous pirate fiction, the sequel to Isle of Swords. It displays many moral themes, with great plot precision. Declan Ross and his daughter, Anne have teamed up with Commodore Blake to hire his pirate friends to help hunt down the enemy pirates, including Bartholomew Thorne, who has escaped his prison. Cat is asked to join the Brethren's quest against the dreaded Merchant, and accepts, and gives Anne the opportunity to join him on the sea. She is given permission by Declan, and they track the Merchant to the Isla Secreta, his hideout. Meanwhile, Thorne has sailed to the Raukar tribe, an ancient surviving Viking clan. He enlists their aid and their fiery cannons, which no one could have been prepared for. He sets their fleet out for an attack on England, which Declan has picked up a rumor about. Declan warns his friends and they set out to disrupt Thorn's plans.

This is one of the best diversion from the “regular world” that I have ever read. In this masterpiece of writing, Bartholomew Thorne, notorious pirate, is discovered to be alive by none other than Declan Ross, Cat, and Anne. However, this time, Thorne is after not only treasure. He seeks revenge, and the only way to get it is burning down London, capital of England. But Thorne will need help from the infamous Merchant, a dealer of the Black Market. Bartholomew Thorne will also need to enlist the Raukar, the only remaining believers in the Ancient Norse War God. With the Merchant and the Raukar, Thorne will easily pummel London. But will Cat, Anna, Ross, and several other former pirates, have the power and courage to stop him? The characters are all divided: Ross hunting Thorne, Anna and Cat hunting the Merchant and his associates, and Commodore Blake is helping Lady Dolphin discover her true identity. But will even the Commodore be able to do that? Fore the new king of England, who doesn’t even speak English, is degrading the Commodore off of the lies of a different commander. This book is completely and totally breathtaking, littered with betrayal, violence, cannons, exploding fire, hurricanes… all the essential elements of a good book.

With most of the characters from Isle of Swords, you will be thrown back to the sea. In this book life for the crew of the Bruce and Cat is looking up, Thorne is dead, and the wolf fleet is running beautify. But is life THAT easy? In this book Cat is worried that he is like his father, and with the brethren asking Cat to do a dangerous mission that could kill him can he deal with it all? Will everyone join Ross’s Wolf fleet? Who is this new villain the Merchant? Is Thorne still alive? Who is this boy named Hopper? Wayne Thomas Batson has a way with his books that you won’t be sure of what will happen next. Mr. Batson is the only author that I know who can put Pirates and Vikings in one book. What is that? You have to read it to find out. Over all Wayne Thomas Batson did a great job making the sequel fit with the first book Isle of Swords. Yet so much different that you have no clue what will happen next!

This sequel to the adventure of Declan Ross picks up where Isle of Swords left off. This time around, the crew of "good" pirates are pitted once again not only against Bartholomew Thorne, who has made alliances with a powerful Viking tribe, but against a being called simply the Merchant - the epitome of evil, living hundreds of years but still mortal. Meanwhile, Cat battles against his own identity as Thorne's son and becomes captain of one of Ross' ships, with boisterous Anne as first mate. Together with Ross' memorable crew, the Dominican monks, and with a British naval captain thrown into the mix, the main characters battle to overcome the Merchant, all the while fending off Thorne and his deadly fire rain. Batson still manages to add hilarious comic relief amidst the intense naval battling and high-seas hijinks. The height of the story is Cat and Anne's almost deadly face-off with the Merchant in his conch-shell lair. A wonderful, satisfying sequel to the amazingly popular Isle of Swords.

This is a great book that everyone should read! It is not as exciting as Isle of Swords, in my opinion, but still a great book!

In this sequel to the Isle of Swords our favorite characters think Thorne is dead, but his he? Cat is not so sure. Mr.Ross and his daughter are still pirates, but now they are working for the government? They even have made friends with an pirate hunter, so are the adventures over? Nay! The merchant raises his ugly head, and hate filled heart. And the secret it out, Cat's father is Thorne! Don't miss getaways, sword fighting and suspense as it holds the attention like few other books do.
