Here Robert Jenson offers a systematic theologian's careful reading of the Song of Songs. Jenson focuses on the overt sense of the book as an erotic love poem in order to discover how this evocative poetry solicits a theological reading. Jenson finds a story of human love for God in this complex poetic book and offers a commentary that elucidates and inspires.
Interpretation: A Bible Commentary for Teaching and Preaching is a distinctive resource for those who interpret the Bible in the church. Planned and written specifically for teaching and preaching needs, this critically acclaimed biblical commentary is a major contribution to scholarship and ministry.
Mikko LFinland5 Stars Out Of 5December 7, 2012Mikko LFinlandQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I just finished this little book about Song of Songs by Robert Jenson, and I wonder why nobody else has reviewed the book before me in Christianbook. However when I purchased it I was more than skeptical. But it did not go for long - that is after reading couple of pages - I had to change totally my mind - I say totally! The commentary and Song of Songs captured My hearth. So I do not know about you, but I did not only like the book, I may say, I loved it. Some of you may not like the book's theological allegory, but for me one of it's strengths was how the author quoted the Jewish and old Christian sources to allegorize the Song - picturing the sacred relationship between the Lord and His bride! Thanks for you Jenson!
