What a great book! While doing an intense reread of the Bible, a friend loaned me his copy. This book gives such invaluable insight and knowledge of the times and people who wrote the scriptures that I ordered copies only for my wife and I but our daughters and their families as well. It actually adds fun and excitement to Bible study!

I love the content of this book, however, if I had seen this book in a store I would NOT have purchased it because the print is so small that I can only read it for a few minutes before I get a headache and have to stop reading. Sometimes I cannot read it at all. I wouldn't necessarily need a giant print book but the text in this book is just terribly small. I'm very disappointed, particularly given what good information it contains. I also love the pictures and the boxes of extra information. What a letdown to have the information literally right at my fingertips and not be able to study it as I would like. I would have been willing to pay more for a larger book that had bigger print! If not for the text size, I would have certainly have given this book 5 stars.

I find the pictures and maps help to bring the Bible to life and make it easier to understand.

This is a great book. We use it in our college level classes for both Old Testament Survey and New Testament Survey. ZHTtB is easy to read, insightful, and has great pictures and diagrams to everything you read about in the Bible. It gives a good background to the cultures of the Old and New Testaments. The authors have done the research and put it together in an easy to follow, understandable book. There is a reason it is a bestseller. And for less than $15, how can you go wrong!
