Edersheim's ability to make the Scriptures come alive in their ancient context remains unsurpassed. Now his classic work on the cultural world of Jesus and his apostles is available in a newly typeset, easy-to-read edition that makes studying even more enjoyable and rewarding. Like The Temple: Its Ministry and Services, and The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah, this invaluable resource reflects Edersheim's encyclopedic familiarity with ancient Jewish sources. Includes helpful black & white maps of Israel and photos. 274 pages, paper from Hendrickson.

An incredible work. It is an introduction for the gentile Christian to the Jewish faith. It will enlighten your knowledge of the Pharisees, the Samaritans, and Jewish home life among other things. It brings life and explanation to many New Testament passages. You will not regret this purchase or reading. Edersheim is always careful at the end of every chapter to show the Christian relevance. It my estimation this is a must have for a Christian library.
