A homeschool mom called the other day and asked if I knew of any history books that reference the Bible and other authoritative sources from biblical times. While she was speaking, I just happened to be looking through a newly printed copy of The Annals of the World. This massive historical work, originally published in 1658, has been translated into modern-day English! It chronicles world history from creation to A.D. 70. Little-known details (not found in standard texts) of the Egyptian, Greek, and Roman struggles for domination are cleverly woven into the narrative. This edition is fully indexed, and includes over 10,500 footnotes now keyed to the Loeb Classical Library (Harvard University Press) and over 2,500 references from the Bible and the Apocrypha. Rev. Ussher, language expert, doctor of divinity, and archbishop of the Church of England, traveled the world in order to collect the facts he needed. Includes a CD-ROM with additional timelines and charts, graphs, and study notes. Learn about war and peace, heroes and villains, and kings and kingdoms of biblical times in vivid detail. This beautifully bound, gold-trimmed masterpiece is destined to become a collector’s item! Recommended for the serious student of history! 960 pages, slipcased hardcover from Master Books.

Reviewed by Steve Reed (IL), September 01, 2009 This book was lost to the world for a long time, which is a real shame. A lot of people missed out. Originally published two years after his death, and written in Latin, this book is finally translated for us. It was worth the wait.
You begin your journey through this work with a lesson in understanding the formation and mechanics of various calendars throughout the ages. this in itself is quite an undertaking and worth the effort.
For me, the real value in this book is the level of detail Ussher provided. Dates are provided in all the calendar formats for comparison and study. Biblical references are also included for study. He also reports places where important events occurred, by citing massive historical references that represent an enormous amount of effort. While your average reader won’t pick this up for fun, the serious researcher and/or history buff won’t be able to resist it.
While many scholars throughout the ages have done their best to refute Ussher’s timeline, there’s a real payoff in studying this book. Modern scholars, Biblical and otherwise are discovering that Ussher is stunningly accurate. Even the sciences are beginning to corroborate his work, while not always directly crediting him, their work speaks for itself.
People make a huge deal about anything they discover that seems to refute the Bible, but they stay pretty quiet when God shows them his proof. Grab this book and see for yourself.
In addition, this is another offering from New Leaf Publishing Group that is well made, physically beautiful and heirloom quality.
New Leaf has embarked on a program of providing high quality, well researched, valuable study materials for both the Biblical researcher and history buff alike. Support their efforts, we need to give publishers reason to continue putting out well made, important works, before they’re lost forever in the digital world. Books don’t need power, they don’t crash and you can physically hold them. 5 out of 5 stars
