It's very, very basic, but it's getting the point across. The only thing I would change is to switch the cartoon-like maps with real ones.

This is one of the best books we have seen for developing confidence in map reading skills as well as basic skills in following written instructions.

These workbooks are my kid's favorite part of school. Much more than just filling in the blanks-- drawing, coloring, cutting and pasting in the younger grades, map and atlas use in the older grades, and just plain fun throughout.
Very well set up, with a logical progression of skills. Fantastic for helping the child understand spatial relationships, and that what they see on a map tells them about what exsists in the real world.
Great for homeschool or as a summer project with schoolkids. Buy the first one and use it for a while, you will end up wanting the entire series.
