Christian values, uplifting quotes, and reminders to pray before each test are noteworthy elements of these spelling workbooks for grades 1 to 6. Phonics are emphasized throughout. A teacher's help is necessary, especially in the beginning books. Test pages are supplied at the back of each book.

I homeschool my 6yo son in 1st & 2nd grade subjects and this is perfect for us. We didn't need an in-depth spelling program at this stage. I love this book in that it states a phonetic rule & then reinforces it with 20 spelling words & an activity per day each week. I also appreciate the scripture and other excellent quotes in the book. We are about 1/4 way through the book & it is a very good fit for us.

I really like this book and the exercises in it. The only thing I don't like is that there is not a separate page(s) for the teacher that lists all the words for each unit. It is necessary for the teacher to copy the lists if she wants the child to do the final tests in the back of the book, as is suggested.

This is just what we wanted, for a little extra help. Easy format, fun to use, received it in 3 days!

I usually LOVE Christian Liberty Press products but this is a disappointment. It doesn't begin at their reading or writing level. I does begin w/ simple words, but it would be more user friendly if the lessons for reading/phonics/spelling were intertwined, e.g., they study the long "O" sound in any given week, how to read it, write it and spell it. The sequence doesn't make sense to my child, or me.

I LOVE this spelling series! We are almost finished Book 1 and can't wait to start Book 2 in the fall. Each unit has a variety of activities and the words in each list keep my daughter challenged in her spelling. I plan to use this series all the way to Book 8.

I am a mother of 8 with 15 years of experience homeschooling.
For children who love the challenge of spelling, this is an excellent
program. Two of our children have tried and done very well with
this series. They love the variety of words and the approach.
However, for children who are not avid spellers, MCP's
Spelling Workout is a good alternative.
