I began working with my daughter, trying to teach her to read from the time she was a preschooler. Unfortunately, though, it just wasn't clicking. Then I heard about Reading Reflex. When I got the book, I honestly thought it looked too easy to really make a difference, but I was wrong. Within just days after using Reading Reflex, we saw a marked difference and within a month, she was reading away and is still going strong reading. It's true! My oldest boy struggled with reading and reading programs throughout Kindergarten and half of first grade. I started him in January of his first grade year, and by March he was above grade level. My daughter, 18 months younger just listened in on his lessons and began correcting his reading! When it was time to teach the youngest, I had worked through the program and was more relaxed with it - and he wanted to read quickly. In a few weeks he could read well and expressively out loud. Now in the first, fourth and fifth grades, these kids repeatedly score 1-4 yrs above grade level on standardized tests. The program teaches the parent/tutor why whole word and phonic systems are limiting in and of themselves, and how pronouncing of words is the key. Evaluation and placement 'tests' are in the book, and games and stories. My kids begged for reading time.
