This unit study is fabulous! We had been doing rigid homeschooling (in other words -- replicating school) and my girls were weary. We began this study this week and it is AWESOME! We love it. They have learned more in 2 days than they have in a month. It is VERY fun and wonderful. I highly recommend.

Tell us a little about yourself. Well, let's see. I am a wife, mom of three, and
hold a degree in mechanical engineering. Two of
our three children are now in college, and one
is still at home, learning along with me. We
live on our tree farm in the Appalachian
mountains in Tennessee, and stay busy growing
kids and trees, surrounded by breath-taking
beauty that God created.
What was your motivation behind this project? I wanted our children to really understand what
Thanksgiving was all about - not just turkey and
football games and company. In writing this
book, I learned what a blessing it is to learn
together as a family about a holiday that holds
so much history, for both America and our family.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that families that use this special
Thanksgiving study develop an ever-growing
collection of family memories and traditions as
they learn about this special holiday and the
events and people involved in this time of
American history.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? One of my greatest influences in writing this
study was the writing of David in the book of
Psalms, as well as the writings of Paul. When
reading the early journals and writings of the
early American settlers, I began to understand
just what it means to be thankful in all
situations, and to give thanks for our ability
to worship the Lord.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: This study is complete on the CD-ROM - no other
books or planning required! The study has four
weeks of daily lessons written on two levels
(Elementary grades and Jr/Sr High grades). One
mom wrote to say: "I just wanted to thank you
for putting together such an awesome
Thanksgiving unit. My seven-year-old daughter
and I thoroughly enjoyed this month-long study.
We learned so much and had so many new areas to
explore. Again, I appreciate the incredible
amount of work that you put into this special
unit. On Monday, we begin our Christmas one and
she cannot wait!"
