Art Adventures at Home is a complete art curriculum for parents of children in grades K-8. This volume, Level 1, contains over 100 step-by-step lessons that cover the foundations of art, written for children in grades K-2 (or older children without previous art experience). These lessons present the basic elements of art (line, shape, form, color, and texture) in five different units: drawing, printmaking, painting, sculpture, and crafts. I am SO glad we got this! Art Adventures at Home ia a wonderful three-year, complete art curriculum designed for K-elementary aged students. Especially nice is the way they've prepared lessons so you can use this with multi-aged sibs using the same projects/materials at the same time but at different levels. Written by two Christian ladies and while the book doesn't have a specific Christian focus, there is a wonderful intro where they talk about God as the ultimate creator. They also promote art as a creative process rather than something to be graded, which I really appreciate. I also got the Art Pack to go with this, which was pricey and disappointing when I discovered small (maybe 5x5 ?) and very thin prints of the art reproductions, and way too many to laminate for durability. Save your $$ on those and visit museums and websites as needed instead. ;)
