Here is a superbly designed reading program created especially for young children. This developmentally appropriate reading course will teach your child to read, fluently and well, in twenty step-by-step lessons. The program can also be used for children with reading difficulties.
The Reading Lesson is a structured phonic teaching method based on modern reading theory. Its innovative guided reading approach helps children learn to read with ease.
Only ten minutes a day and you will see your child learning new letters and words and beginning to read short stories. The stories are simple and fun, and your child will be reading them from the very first lesson. In every lesson, there are delightful pictures to color, matching exercises, puzzles and other reading activities. The crisp format and simple style keeps children focused.
Even the best software can not teach your child to read. You need books and the most important tool of all - the kitchen table - where you sit and do the lessons. The Reading Lesson book gives you an easy to follow recipe for teaching your child to read.
This 444 page book contains twenty lessons. The lessons are easy to do both for parent and the child. You will need to work with your child about 15 to 20 minutes a day. A typical lesson can be finished in approximately one to two weeks.

This program is affordable and easy for the parent to use with a simple format and no distracting pages. I have already used it successfully with one child, and have just started it with another. You can also give your child the option of coloring the pictures on the pages if desired. This is a great choice for children easily distracted by busy pages and requires no preparation to teach the lessons. This program builds confidence early on, and you can customize the amount of time spent on each lesson to suit the needs of your child. Extra items are not necessary, although the Explode the Code series is a wonderful supplement.
