The positive contributions of this book, in my view, outweigh the negatives. Dr. B's teaching on oneness in the church as rooted in the oneness of the Trinity is superb and his teaching on Christ-like use of authority is beneficial for any Christian leader. The book is very readable--interesting and understandable. I take issue with his interpretations of the NT passages regarding the limits of a woman's role in church leadership and his extra-biblical paradigm of two church structures (normative and remedial). However, he is one of the most well spoken advocates of the egalitarian view among evangelicals and his interpretations are worth reading and critically evaluating.

Absolutely wonderful book! This one made theological issues fun again. Dr. B's explanations of hierarchy, women in the body of Christ, and two different church models in the New Testament are thought provoking. The appendix on hierarchy in the Trinity is worth the price of the book.
