Though the name FM Static might conjure allusions of fuzzy radio noise and obscure sounds, the band's actual music and mission couldn't be clearer: Have fun and stay positive in your path to growing up.
Originally formed from the workings of Trevor McNevan and Steve Augustine, both members of the highly successful Christian Rock group, Thousand Foot Krutch, FM Static was created from their natural love for the pop/rock genre.
Soon after signing with Tooth and Nail, the Toronto natives traveled to Seattle to put their ideas to work, recording with acclaimed producer, Aaron Sprinkle (Kutless, MxPx). What resulted was the band's premiere album, What Are You Waiting For?. The album, bursting with 11 infectious tracks, combines all sides of talent from its collaborators, creating perfected teenage anthems just in time for summer!

I like most of the songs, except for "My First Stereo". It seemed dumb to dedicate a song to a THING. And I also wish they didn't have so many songs about girls. The cd is pretty cool, and I love 2 listen 2 it!

Pretty Spankin' Good! The sound is definitely the best thing about this CD. Every song, (besides "Crazy Mary" 'shudder') is jam-packed with energy and singability, (I don't know how to spell that or if it is even a word). Good but the lyrics are totally obsessed with girls. WHY!?

The first eight songs are good (musically) especially 3 and 4. The last three really stink though. Cosmo in track 9? What was that about, guys? Brandon is right. Christians don't have to have a Christian message all the time but FM Static really could have made more effort to include a better message.

This cd is great musically, there are bands that are better, but this is still good. The reason it got 3.5 was because of the lyrics. I'm not against Christian bands making songs that aren't exactly Christian, but they should have a good number of Christian songs too. None of this band's songs really have great Christian messages. "Somethin' to Believe In" sounds like it would have great lyrics, it doesn't. They are somewhat Christian but I don't think they are going to help anybody. Probably my favorite song and the only song that kind of speaks to me is "Crazy Mary". That is a great song. I still do listen to this sometimes, but I think they need more spiritual songs.

When I heard TFK, and when I heard Trevor had another band, and when I heard Definitely Maybe on X2004, I bought FM Static. This cd delivered, and Trevor sounds just as good in a punk setting then in a hard rock setting. What a great cd for those who do like the punk sound, it keeps going until the end!

It says on the sticker that's on the cover, "Recommended for those who like MXPX and Relient K", so I got it on a long shot and it has climbed to my second fav. CD next to Relient K's Anatomy of Tongue and Cheeck. So it should say on the front " Recommended if you love Jesus AT ALL."

Heard this band at Festival Con Dios and I just have one thing to say about these guys. They rock the house! This CD rocks! Everything about them rocks! OK, maybe that's more than one thing.
