This Focus on the Family Classics collection features ten CDs packed with FoF's award winning radio theatre, including spellbinding performances of
Les Miserables,
Ben-Hur,
A Christmas Carol,
Silas Marner, and
Billy Budd, Sailor. Over 9 hours of wholesome entertainment!
In Les Miserables, against the stirring background of the French Revolution, we follow the tale of Jean Valjean as he encounters first the savage injustice of the law, and then the gentleness and grace of God. Now this might drama has been newly adapted as an epic audio production starring Brian Blessed, Geoffrey Palmer, Toyah Willcox, Leo McKern and many other British actors.
Billy Budd, Sailor is a suspense-filled, seafaring tale of the triumph of good over evil. When a young sailor is forced into service on a British warship on its way to fight the French navy, his good nature begins to have a powerful effect on the rest of his shipmates. One man, however, is disgusted by Billy's innocence, and the stage is set for a conspiracy, murder, and a question of justice.
Ben-Hur is the powerful story of two friends who share a love for learning and a passion to be soldiers. But before many years pass, Judah Ben-Hur, a prince of the Jews, and Messala, the Roman nobleman and soldier, will also share a deep hatred for what the other has become. This faithful adaptation of the Lew Wallace classic underscores the fact that the power of God's love and true forgiveness are the only forces stronger than hatred and revenge.
Having suffered the loss of his fiancie, friends, reputation and worst of all, his faith in God, Silas Marner finds his faith in gold. He stores it, even hoards it, until one day it's stolen. Devastation is replaced by a golden-haired, young girl who wins his heart. But, will this treasure be taken from him too? It's a timeless story of the simple power of a little girl's love and how it transformed one man's life.
A full cast of award-winning voice actors bring Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol story to life as never before! Dramatizing the struggle between earthly gain and eternal treasure, it challenges you to examine your own heart to re-evaluate where your treasure lies.

My family have listened to both Ben-Hur and Les Miserables. They are very engaging stories, with a lot of energy. I found them to be encouraging and exciting. I really enjoyed these stories and plan on purchasing more of these as gifts.

Extremely good collection of stories that keep the whole family rivetted. So good for long journeys. Looking forward to the next family journey to hear the second CD of Silas Marner - what excuse can I find? Our 2 boys often talk about the characters in the stories and we have had some good discussions arising. The quality of voice actoring is excellent and as a Brit listening to an American production, it's so good that an English accent doesn't automatically mean bad-guy! Our whole family gives this presentation a hearty thumbs up!

This is a great collection of dramatized stories and this whole set costs less than just 2 of the stories purchased individually.
