Located in: Goode, VA Submitted: February 20, 2010 Tell us a little about yourself. What gets me up in the morning is an overwhelming desire to see Gods kids walk in the freedom for which Jesus died. My academic training includes a BA, an M.Div., an MA, and two PHDs. This allows me to integrate psychology, counseling, and theology in both the study and practice of deliverance. Combined with this academic training is sixteen years in the pastoral ministry and over twenty-five years of involvement in the deliverance ministry. I also have been married 37+ years, have four adult children, and several grandchildren. What was your motivation behind this project? I want to see Gods kids free. I see this happening as the practice of deliverance becomes normal in the life of the church. I am driven to see deliverance teams established in churches and Christian counseling centers throughout the United States and the world. When this happens, those who are driven by spiritual forces beyond their control will then be able to experience the freedom for which our Savior died. That drives me. What do you hope folks will gain from this project? While many books on the market today address the issue of deliverance, one often comes away believing that this is something that needs to be done, but having no idea as to where to begin. Its Only a Demon lays out a very clear model for actually doing deliverance. People contact me to report that they were able to take the book and, by following the model, see their friends and family members delivered from thoughts, emotions, and behavior that they had previously assumed had just been them. How were you personally impacted by working on this project? The fruit of this book has gradually been taking over my life. I am finding that I am involved more and more in both providing personal ministry to people and in traveling around the country speaking at conferences, training therapists, and helping churches and Christian counseling centers establish deliverance ministries. Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Nothing is accomplished in this ministry without sacrifice by those who heed the call of the Lord. I am thankful for others from various denominational and Christian religious traditions who have come before me and have contributed their understanding and experience to my work. I am thankful for the work of Dr. C. Fred Dickason of Moody Bible Institute; for the late Dr. Merrill Unger of Dallas Theological Seminary, for the late international Bible teacher Derek Prince, and for the friendship and support of my Dr. Vernon Grounds of Denver Seminary, whose gentle encouragement has blessed me over the years. Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: One of the things that makes this book unique is that every other chapter is written by a client. I asked these clients to recount their histories, their experience of deliverance, and the fruit of their receiving Gods touch. This allows the reader to not only learn about the presented model of deliverance, but also to read about how it was experienced by the client. It is fascinating to read about how God worked in their lives. AvailabilityAvailability: Available to ship on or about 05/30/13.
