Real Church: Does it exist? Can I find it? Larry Crabb Retail Price: $14.99 CBD Price: $10.99
( In Stock )
Excerpt What's happening to the Church? Why are so many people who for decades have been faithful, steady churchgoers (and others who want to start going to church but can't seem to find one that meets their needs) losing interest in even attending church, let alone getting involved?
What is fundamentally wrong with the "types" of churches (Seeker, Bible, Emergent, Liberal, Evangelical) that dot the religious landscape? Larry Crabb believes it is time to rethink the entire foundation and focus of what we know today as church -- everything we're doing and are wanting to see happen. In his most honest and vulnerable book to date, the author reveals his own struggles in this area and then offers a compelling vision of why God designed us to live in community with Him and others, and what the church he wants to be a part of looks like.

The Papa Prayer: The Prayer You've Never Prayed Larry Crabb Retail Price: $14.99 CBD Price: $10.99
( In Stock )
Excerpt Like millions of Christians, Dr. Larry Crabb has always considered his prayer life a weakness: dull, crisis-driven and mostly lifeless. But something new happened when he began practicing the four steps of what he calls the PAPA prayer - a relational, conversational approach to talking with and enjoying God. Each step of this revolutionary method promotes the thought that "prayer is getting more of God rather than getting more from God." As Crabb shares his own journey and education in the mysteries of prayer, you'll see yourself and God in a very different light, altering the way you talk and listen to Him. A "Practical Helps" section at the end will help you put the book's principles into practice. "The movement .. from 'I should pray' to 'I want to pray' is the revolutionary result of fidelity to The PAPA Prayer." --Brennan Manning, author of The Ragamuffin Gospel

( Available to ship on or about 05/31/13. )
Excerpt In The Silence of Adam, Dr. Larry Crabb and his colleagues, biblical scholar Don Hudson and counselor Al Andrews, offer a fresh look at how God designed men. They draw from neglected biblical data and their own professional experience to explore issues such as manhood's lost vision, the problems of masculine community, and the power of mentoring relationships. The Silence of Adam deals thoughtfully and honestly with men's ongoing struggles and exposes the difficulties they have in relationships. It presents the rich calling men have to reveal God in ways uniquely masculine. And it summons them beyond their paralyzing fear of failure to bold risk-taking, action, deep spirituality, and full-hearted living.

Underscoring the biblical meanings of masculinity and femininity, Crabb points out crucial differences between male other-centeredness and female other-centeredness. And he emerges with a provocative new understanding of how men and women, married and single, can build satisfying relationships. Softcover from Zondervan.

The Marriage Builder Larry Crabb Retail Price: $10.99 CBD Price: $8.99
( In Stock )
Excerpt Psychologist Larry Crabb cuts to the heart of the biblical view of marriage: the "one-flesh" relationship. He argues convincingly that the deepest needs of human personality--security and significance--ultimately cannot be satisfied by a marriage partner. We need to turn to the Lord, rather than our spouse, to satisfy our needs. This frees both partners for "soul oneness," a commitment to minister to our spouse's needs rather than manipulating them to meet our own needs. With "soul oneness" comes renewed "body oneness," where couples enjoy sexual pleasure as an expression and outgrowth of a personal relationship. The Marriage Builder also identifies three building blocks essential to constructing marriage: the grace of God, true marriage commitment, and acceptance of one's mate. Now for the first time, discussion questions have been added to aid couples who want to come to deeper understanding of marriage. Helpful to counselors and laypersons alike, The Marriage Builder is for anyone who longs to transform marriage from trial to triumph.
