PRODUCER(S): Monroe Jones and Third Day
Back in the day, certain church circles thought updating worship meant rockin' a ukulele (no offense to those that still do), but in recent years inspired Christian acts ushered in a new caliber of progressive praise. Top-selling rockers Third Day made just such an impact with Offerings: A Worship Album in 2001, and now the Grammy-winning group returns with another celebrated installment, Offerings II: All I Have To Give.
The new Offerings disc features six studio and six live tracks, the latter recorded during their 2002 "Come Together" tour. Wanting more than a standards remake, Third Day penned such beautiful originals as "Sing a Song" and the piano-driven "Offering", which they paired with a cover of Waterdeep's strikingly catchy "You Are So Good to Me." Among the live tunes, the brilliant "God of Wonders" — the City On a Hill hit — is a definite standout, as is the upbeat "Creed," co-written by the late, great Rich Mullins. Though the studio tracks provide superior production, the live tracks capture a more organic worship spirit backed by powerful audience participation. Overall, the mix of live and studio tunes provide balance and inspiration for fans seeking a new level of worship experience.
