How much research did Chasing Sunsets take?
Oh, the suffering of going to CK several times!! (LOL) A pretty good bit. There’s such history in CK. I wanted to get it all right. I wanted to truly feel as though I could go there for a whole summer, live there, etc. Mostly I just enjoyed soaking up the ambiance of the island.
What were the most interesting facts that you learned while writing and researching Chasing Sunsets?
What amazes me most about CK is how she refuses to die. To know more about her history, go to: http://cedarkey.org/ The history of near-destruction and then resurrection is just amazing. And I love how she won’t let modern life get in the way of her slow and easy lifestyle. It’s just marvelous.

What are some of the challenges you face as an author?
Time. Always wish I had more time.
What aspects of being a writer do you enjoy the most?
The writing. And the traveling. And the teaching (others what I have learned). The teaching is why I enjoy being on faculty at writers conferences so much…and why my work with Christian Writers Guild/Word Weavers is so vital to my work. My life.
What other new projects do you have on the horizon?
I am working on Book 3 in the Cedar Key series.
What message would you like your readers to take from Chasing Sunsets?
Our God is the God of second chances…and forgiveness…and taking the past with all its mistakes and making it all right.
What is your greatest achievement?
On a personal level: my marriage and my children.
What is your goal or mission as a writer?
I fear that far too many Christians will not recognize Jesus when they see Him face-to-face. They won’t know His heartbeat. For me, my work is about leading readers (and listeners, when I speak) to the heartbeat of God.
What do you do to get away from it all?
We live on a lake…it’s fabulous. I can go right outside and watch the sun dance across the water any time of day I want. I love old movies. Good books. I enjoy knitting. Shopping with friends. Shopping alone! Walking on my treadmill while watching old 60s sitcoms on my DVD player (right now I’m watching a marathon of That Girl) Of course…there’s always Cedar Key!
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I hope your readers will make their way to buying a copy of Chasing Sunsets, will read it, enjoy it, and most of all, grow from it!
Thank you for this time!
