  Claddagh Symbol

The Claddagh's distinctive design display two hands clasping a heart, with a crown and often a cross. The hands stand for trust and friendship, the heart stands for love, and the crown represents trust and loyalty. When the cross is incorporated into the design, it stands for faith.

Most Claddagh symbols are circular, which is a representation of eternity, without end.

Claddagh comes from the Irish phrase, An Cladch which means flat stony shore. It was the name of the village on the coast of Ireland where the claddagh design originated.
