WEB DEVELOPER

 

Christianbook.com, the leading Internet distributor of Christian products, is seeking a Web Developer to design, code, implement, and support applications for its E-Commerce website.  The Web Developer will work closely with technical and web design staff, Internet Marketing, Information Technology, Customer Service, and management to deliver innovative solutions.

 

Qualified candidates have a strong work ethic and excellent character. They are a team-oriented and teachable self-starter.  We are looking for technically well-rounded individuals who are:

  • Flexible in adapting and responding to the new or unknown.
  • Able to take ownership and responsibility for projects and support situations.
  • Effective in providing solutions and collaborative in their work place relations.
  • Willing to participate in a 24/7 rotating on-call schedule to support website operations.
  • Ready to take initiative and follow projects through to completion.
  • Have BS/BA in engineering or computer science or equivalent experience.

Candidates need to have a solid real-world track record in the following:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years experience with open source development, including Perl and Java.
  • Strong experience with Object-Oriented Design and implementation.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with web development, including Apache, mod_perl, HTML, CSS, XML, AJAX and JavaScript.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with databases using SQL, MySQL, and Oracle.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in Unix / Linux environment including Solaris and RHEL.
  • 2+ years experience developing highly scalable and secure web applications; including Web Services.
  • Experience with web-based reporting and web analytics.
  • Experience with Search Engine Optimization.
  • Experience developing rich multimedia internet applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, and Flash.
  • Strong knowledge of open source software and technologies.
  • Time management and project management skills. 
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately identify problems, determine the best course for correction, and execute corrective actions successfully.
  • Successful design, implementation, deployment and maintenance of a high-traffic, multi-server web farm.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical people; including Visio and Wiki software.
  • Organizational skills and great attention to detail.
