|Alpha Omega Publications won the Children's Discovery Award at the Children's Discovery Film Festival, part of the first-ever Festival of Festivals held in Palm Springs, Calif., on October 25-November 4. |
The Festival of Festivals is an international film attraction that in its debut drew more than 115 films, ranging from world and U.S. premieres to feature films that have captured awards from other film festival juries. The Children's Discovery Film Festival is the kid-specific portion of the event, sponsored by The Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
Competition was thick as several award-winning European films and international premieres vied for the spotlight. AOP's clever animation and thrilling storyline, however, landed a hands-down victory for Kingdom Under the Sea: The Red Tide. The film, geared for ages 4 and up, sends children on a delightful adventure using Biblical themes to help them understand difficult concepts such as faith, salvation, trust, and forgiveness.
The Children's Discovery Award was judged by the Children's Jury, a seven-member panel of kids who arrived at the showing in grand style via limousines for the opening night premiere and receptions.
"Alpha Omega Publications is especially honored that Kingdom Under the Sea: The Red Tide was named winner by a group of children. After all, kids are our audience," said David Mulhern, Director of the video series. "We focus on helping parents teach their children valuable life lessons in a fun and entertaining fashion that makes them want to embrace learning. The Discovery Award reinforces AOP's success in achieving that goal."
