Product Description

Olivia seems to have it all, but her heart yearns for more.
Olivia Stewart's family is one of the Four Hundred-the highest echelon of society in 1910. When her sister dies under mysterious circumstances, Olivia leaves their New York City home for Mercy Falls, California, to determine what befell Eleanor. She suspects Harrison Bennett, the man Eleanor planned to marry. But the more Olivia gets to know him, the more she doubts his guilt-and the more she is drawn to him herself.
When several attempts are made on her life, Olivia turns to Harrison for help. He takes her on a ride in his aeroplane, but then crashes, and they're forced to spend two days alone together. With her reputation hanging by a thread, Harrison offers to marry her to make the situation right. As a charity ball to rebuild the Mercy Falls lighthouse draws near, she realizes she wants more than a sham engagement-she wants Harrison in her life forever. But her enemy plans to shatter the happiness she is ready to grasp. If Olivia dares to drop her masquerade, she just might see the path to true happiness.

First off, I absolutely LOVE the cover. Seriously. Whenever there's a discussion about pretty covers, this one comes to my mind first. I did a Cover Focus on it awhile back too! And it contains a great story. There were a few scenes that I can only describe as heart-melting - so sweet, and I loved them. Mystery and excitement abound in this book, making it a page-turner the whole way through! It's a memorable read - I recommend it.

Olivia Stewart has everything a girl wants; money to buy gowns in the latest fashion, friends that invite her to their extravagant balls, galas, social events, and family that needs for nothing. But being part of America's Four Hundred in 1910 and heiress to an empire of old titles and old money mean nothing when that wealth disappears - along with the lifestyle that money brings.

Olivia's sister, Eleanor is engaged to be married to one of the country's newly rich Harrison Bennett. But when Eleanor dies under mysterious circumstances, it is up to Olivia to take her place as Harrison's bride. Under her English title of Lady Devonworth, Olivia travels to Mercy Falls, California to investigate her sister's death. When she arrives, she discovers that Harrison Bennett is not who he seems to be, and that Eleanor did not die by accident. Will she be able to salvage what is left of her family's money by marrying Harrison? Or will her desire for more than never-ending parties and wealth keep her from going where her heart leads?

Olivia finds herself in the situation we all find ourselves in - discontent with our lives. This final installment to the Mercy Falls trilogy was a very satisfying read with just the right amount of mystery, excitement and historical details. I really enjoyed the plot of The Lightkeeper's Ball, and the characters were either at peace or against one another. The ending caught me by surprise, and it was a page turner the entire ride.

Wow! Let me say first of all that the cover for this book is absolutely gorgeous! I was so captivated by it that I knew it was only a matter of time before it drew me into it's pages. The Lightkeeper's Ball was the first book I read in the Mercy Falls Series, and it was great as a stand alone book, although I may have understood the other character's a little more had I read the series in order.

The story was wonderfully written (as are all of Colleen Coble's books) and it was filled with love, mystery and a little adventure. I read this book in just a few hours because I simply couldn't put it down. I should've been sleeping, but this book wouldn't let me. ;)

Highly recommended to all fans of historical fiction, and although it's not the greatest book of all time, it is worth losing a little sleep over.
