Love this series!
Wow. This is a moving story. I was crying in the first 45 minutes! I think the first book in the series is still my favorite, but book two is amazing also. I love Jeff. He is great, however, Susie got on my nerves. She had major trust issues, but by the end of the book she has worked through them, and I ended up loving her too. This whole story is just amazing, and Sutton is a great writer. She writes such moving books that make you cry, laugh, and think; I love them!

A "Six Flag" emotional roller coaster
Even though IâÂÂm not a young adult, I consider myself young-at-heart. Consequently, I can enjoy books, movies, some music, etc. that target the young adult market. Michelle SuttonâÂÂs latest installment in her Second Glances series, ItâÂÂs Not About Him, Book #2, is one such book.
If youâÂÂve read any of my reviews of MichelleâÂÂs work before, you know I love all of her books. You would also know that one reason I do, is because, not only are her writing skills outstanding, but also because she is a courageous author for realistically tackling tough subjects. They are excellent learning tools for todayâÂÂs youth.
In ItâÂÂs Not About Him, Susie Ziglar, a secondary character from Book #1, had gotten drunk and passed out at a party she attended at the home of Jeff Rhodes. Later discovering she is pregnant, she considers having an abortion, but decides to place her baby for adoption, instead.
Guilt-ridden over Susie getting pregnant at one of his parties, Jeff offers to marry her so she can keep her baby. He wants to prevent that child having to live through what he had to after his birth mother gave him away. Susie refuses, insisting he should marry for love. But Jeff does secretly love her. Can he convince her heâÂÂs sincere before the adoption is finalized? Or can Susie make him understand that, as difficult as it may be, this is whatâÂÂs best for her child?
For me, this story was another âÂÂSix Flagâ emotional roller coaster ride from Michelle Sutton; exactly what I like in a novel. Her social worker expertise is evident in how her characters exhibit certain behavior patterns, and in how important issues are ultimately resolved. ThatâÂÂs a real bonus for the reader. I urge anyone who appreciates the elements IâÂÂve described above to read ItâÂÂs Not About Him. You wonâÂÂt be sorry.

I love this series. Great books written by a great author! I love the honesty and the emotions portrayed in this book. Michelle writes about this topic with amazing sensitivity and it is a book all young women should read! It kept my attention the whole way through and was a quick and easy read.
I found the characters very endearing and I found myself wanting to get to know them more. I was completely engaged. Well done Michelle.

All I can say is what a terrific book! This isn't you're everyday "fluffy" romance! It's Not About Him deals with issues such as alcoholism, abortion, rape, and sex in a way that is relevant and real for today's young adults. I was truly captivated by this book from the very beginning and I stayed up preeettty late and woke up early to see what happened next! You definitely won't be bored with this one and you might even cry! Jeff is a sensitive, caring hero who as a new Christian is still dealing with temptations from his past and Susie who is also a new Christian is facing her past and consequences of it in a very real way. I felt sorry for Jeff at times, Susie was so reluctant to acknowledge her true feelings but I was really pleased with how everything worked out for both of them and baby Melissa. I'm really looking forward to reading Book 1, It's Not About Me (yeah I know I ALWAYS end up reading series books out of order) to learn more about the story behind Annie and Dan, two terrific secondary characters in It's Not About Him who are very important in Susie's and Jeff's lives. If you are a lover of romance with strong Christian themes It's Not About Him is definitely a book you will want to pick up. If you're a parent of an older teen I really think this book (and probably the series) would be great to read and discuss together. It's Not About Him is definitely highly recommended.
