Melody Carlson has always had a talent for writing books that are relatable for Christian teens. In this book, she focuses on describing the feelings Erin is experiences as she strives to develop a career, stay friends with her gal-pals, keep up with school responsibilities, and stay connected to her family. In Catwalk,, some of Erins closest friends are turning away from her, but she discovers how much loyalty she has for her friends and family. In the course of the book, Erin travels way out of her comfort zone and begins the process of getting in front of the camera. She models for photos, but she also tries to model a walking Christian testimony.
While trying to find her place in the world, she is unsure if she wants to stand out by standing up for what is against the crowd or just stand out by fitting in. Erin tries to please everyone, but realizes that this way of life is not a happy life. She learns to stand up for what she believes in, and she finds out what being a Christian truly is all about.
I thought the book lets the reader in on how a true young person thinks. I loved how Erin asks questions about what a real or good Christian would do or say. Catwalk shows how real relationships rise and fall, weaken or grow stronger. I would recommend this book to young adults wanting to discover more realistic situational truths about Christianity. I'm grateful for this site and the Christian fiction it offers.

Paige and Erin Forrester are back and this time it's bye bye Malibu Beach and Hello Fashion Week as the girls are on their way to interview some of the top designers and models and if they weren't lucky enough - Paige and Erin get to be in the show as models for Green Environment Designer Granada. Just as you thought that you may never see the Carter House Girls again , in New York we see Paige and Erin meet up with Katherine Carter , DJ, Eliza , Rhiannon and Taylor as of course they are modelling for their designer friend Dylan Marceau. Alot can happen during Fashion Week and on the Catwalk as we see the tensions flare between Paige and Erin with Paige having the fame go to her head and Erin wanting to promote some eco-friendly designers on the show. Catwalk has it all from Airport Jinks, Friends -new and old , fallouts , boyfriend troubles , teen pregnancy and of course a car crash which results in a death of one of the characters from the first book "Premiere" and most importantly Catwalk features a strong relationship with God as the Carter House Girls mix with the Forresters.
I'm now looking forward to reading Book #3 Rendevous which I have on order from the library
Michelle SuttonArizonaAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Better than the first bookOctober 11, 2010Michelle SuttonArizonaAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I actually enjoyed this book even more than the first one. I didn't think I would after reading the teaser at the end of the first book, but it ended up being an entertaining read after all. I liked how the author tied in an entirely separate series into this one, too. The Carter House girls make an appearance in this book, which makes me want to go back and finish that series. Anyway, I am looking forward to digging into book three in this series, Rendezvous. So far this series is a YA winner, in my opinion, and I'm not even into fashion. I suppose I identify more with Erin, the sister. That's what is so good about this book. It's easy to identify with at least one character. They are all very different, and they seemed like they could be real people, which is why I am enjoying getting to know them. The characters are easy to relate to.
Christy Lockstein5 Stars Out Of 5August 10, 2010Christy LocksteinCatwalk by Melody Carlson is the second book in the On the Runway series. Paige and Erin Forrester are on their way to film New York Fashion week for their reality television show On the Runway, but first they both need to walk in a show for a "green" designer, then Erin needs to deal with her best friend Mollie's seeming abandoning her for boyfriend Tony, plus the girls' mother's relationship with Jon is becoming serious. I love this series about two sisters trying to stay true to themselves in the strange world of Hollywood. Paige is the star of the show and trying to keep up her relationship with big star Benjamin. Erin is more comfortable behind the camera and is giving old flame Blake another chance. Paige and Erin have a very believable sisterly relationship with plenty of push-pull and chemistry. They face the real problems of teenagers: parents dating, troubled relationships, and two-faced friends, but with a great twist of glamor. It's the rare young adult Christian series that is completely enjoyable and believable. I can't wait to read what happens next to the Forrester sisters.
