Great Way to Share God's Truths With Kids
My favorite thing about this book is that it doesn't just dummy things down; it contains text straight out of the New Living Translation of the Bible. I really like the way they take the time to explain a little bit about the story before going into the biblical text; this is in a section called "What's Up." I know that it can be hard to understand what's really going on while reading the Bible, so this little bit of background included with each story really helps kids grasp the truths in God's Word. After each reading, there is a short section called "Now What?" that gives kids a chance to think about how they can apply what they've read in their own lives. Another thing I really like about this book is that the author has picked out a key verse for each story that really sums up what it's about; it's really awesome to be able to take such huge stories and bring them down to one super important key verse to really help kids understand.
Our family really enjoys reading this book together; we've been using it as a short family devotion before bedtime. The kids, ages 5 and 6, are really engaged in the stories and are filled with answers when it comes to the "Now What?" section. I look forward to reading more of this book with the kids and getting the chance to really see them understand and gain knowledge of God's Word. According to Amazon, this book is best suited for ages 7 and up, but my kids really enjoy it. I would suggest this book to anyone looking for a way to share God's truths with their families.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for this review. All thoughts are my own and I was not required to write a positive review.

Fun Bible Adventures
101 Bible Adventures: The Ultimate Quest For Truth is a great book for my son! This book offers kids an adventure-filled time of studying and learning about God's word. This isn't about just reading the scriptures. There's interaction and they are learning great life lessons such as forgiveness, love, good character building, and discovering God's plan for their lives.
Each story features:
A brief overview so kids can get a bird's-eye view of the Bible story
A key verse that sums up the story's meaning
An application section that challenges kids to make their faith active
These stories are from the New Living Translation, which makes it easier for the kids to grasp and understand. My son liked that each section was just two pages. He can easily read it without my help or getting too tired. My 8 yr. old said he thinks this book is cool. It's a great addition to my kids' library.

101 GREAT Bible Adventures
101 Bible Adventures
We've been enjoying the new children's devotional book, 101 Bible Adventures by Carolyn Larsen. Our family reads one adventure each night and the children, ages 4-12, are engaged and learning. While the devotional book itself doesn't present many questions to consider, the reading material contains great thought-provoking, question-inducing information.
Each lesson includes a short, usually one paragraph, introduction by the author. This is followed by a story straight from the Bible (NLT) and concludes with a thought from the author again. Each adventure contains a one frame cartoon and a memory verse.
While the pages are not very colorful (ok, not at all colorful--mostly shades of black & while with one box in light blue on each page) it's really not a problem since the book is more of a read-aloud for the parent to read, rather than for young kids to read/look at.
I do like that each adventure is mostly comprised of scripture--from The Book. Many children's Bible story books are paraphrased--and this is appropriate for small kids. But my children are all at ages now that they can comprehend the Bible itself (especially the New Living Translation that is presented in 101 Adventures)--and I'm so happy to be reading it to them! The author chooses selections of the actual Bible that are concise and clearly tell the story without being too much for little ones. We've really enjoyed it!

101 Bible Adventures: The Ultimate Quest For Adventure, written by Carolyn Larsen and illustrated by Rick Incrocci, is a book that is designed to bring an adventured filled approach to the reading and studying of scripture.
101 Bible Adventures is comprised of a brief overview of a Bible story, a key verse that sums up the meaning of the story, and a section dedicated to the application of that story within the lives of those participating.
The utilization of this tool will aid greatly in the teaching of young children, as the content is slighted towards those who are just beginning to sit within such a setting as a Sunday School class or just beginning to embrace the scriptures at home. The illustrations bring minute humor to the story as they, for the right audience age, would bring a chuckle while reinforcing the stories' content.
While each of these studies alone brings forth the general context of the Bible story, it might be beneficial to utilize the addition of outside materials or games to aid in the disclosure of and the retention of the lesson.
They would be a a great asset in the teaching of young children within the church or at home, thus it is recommended for this audience.
