In the hour in which we live there is a tendency to push aside the great hymns of yesteryear towards more contemporary music. Thank God for the "Oldies but Goodies" and the message they convey!

we were hoping for some organ music in some, but over all, excellent hymns, will be scouting for some real old time hymns.

I had been looking for the old hymns - without the fancy arrangements so I could just sing along. For the most part, this is it. Nice selections - well done.

100 Greatest Hymns, 3 CD Set. A remarkable CD with hymns of yesterday. This will take you back to the old landmark. Yes, I would highly recommend this to family and friends, and it's at a great price.

This collection contains just about every one of my favorites. It's almost a complete hymn book within itself. I'm sure I will continue to enjoy it for a long time and will share it with others at every opportunity.

I actually bought two of these - one for myself and one as a gift. I hope the person I gift likes it better than I do...just wasn't expecting all the songs to be sung by the same choir. I like more variety.

I really have enjoyed this set! In the current world of Praise & Worship - it's nice to have a set of solid doctrine Hymns to play every so often. They are peaceful, yet relevant to today. I love the choral arranging - very harmonic and beautiful

Tell us a little about yourself. I am the Choirmaster/Organist at St. Bartholomew's Church
(Episcopal/Anglican) in Nashville, Tennessee as well as a record
producer and songwriter. I served as the editor of THE CHRISTIAN
LIFE HYMNAL, recently published by Hendrickson Publishers. All of
the hymns on this recording can be found in that hymnal.
What was your motivation behind this project? To bring together a collection of 100 meaningful hymn, at a
affordable price, was an absolute joy for me. I trust the listener will
be blessed and drawn closer to God through this recording.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? As producer of this project, I have a two-fold desire: 1.) That
listeners who grew up on the hymns will once again be blessed by
the wealth of theology, inspiration, comfort, and hope contained in
the great classic hymns and gospel songs of the church; 2.) That a
new generation who may not know these hymns will embrace the
truth and beauty found in the great hymns of the church.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I have loved the hymns since I was a child taking piano lessons and
going to church. Some who have brought the hymns to life for me
include arranger/orchestrator Ronn Huff, hymnal editor Fred Bock,
music publisher and hymnwriter Don Cason, and new modern
hymn writer Keith Getty.
