Product Description

Ten Truths about Christians and Politics looks at what the Bible and history tell us about God and government. Religion, it turns out, is absolutely necessary to a happy, productive, and free social order. But not just any religion. The last 2,000 years show how Christianity transformed the ancient world and enshrined into law rights and liberties unknown to the ancients.

Discover why Christians belong in politics, why the Bible is a political handbook, and why it really is true that "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord" (Psalm 33:12, NKJV).

Author/Artist Review

Author: John Aman
Submitted: August 22, 2011

Tell us a little about yourself.  I serve as Director of Communications at Truth in Action Ministries, formerly Coral Ridge Ministries.

What was your motivation behind this project?  I wrote this book on assignment for Truth in Action Ministries (which is why my name is not on it, though I am listed as the author on a subsequent volume in the 10 Truths series, "10 Truths About Hate Crimes Laws"). I wanted to give voice to the compelling historical and biblical reasons for Christian civic engagement.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I hope it will encourage believers to bring their biblically informed values into the public debate. Too often we are intimidated by those who criticize public square Christianity. This book provides readers with solid reasons to speak and act.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I found myself more appreciative of our heritage as Western Christians. The civic engagement of believers for the past two millennia is what has secured the freedoms we now enjoy.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I have enjoyed works by Francis Schaeffer, David McCullough, David Aikman, and, to be honest, Tom Wolfe, Tom Clancy, and Joseph Conrad (Romance). Dr. D. James Kennedy modeled a kind of intelligent Christianity that was also spiritually vibrant, something I have found very compelling.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  There's a great story to tell about Christians and politics. This short volume on the topic will help you get started with its overview of ten key truth statements on the subject.
