Tell us a little about yourself. Born in Minnesota, I have also lived in Seattle, WA, Sacramento, CA, Dallas, TX, Pittsburgh, PA and now Chicago. Married, 3 children, 4 grandchildren. Wired to be a radio broadcaster and marketing guy. Twins & Vikings fan. Well, sometimes a Cub fan. Wish I played golf well.
What was your motivation behind this project? Meeting in small groups with men over many years and then serving as a leader of a men's ministry, I discovered a very real need of men to understand themselves better. This is my effort at connecting with men on that level.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? To embrace manhood in a positive way. Next, to see how easy it is to get out of balance (whack) in key areas of life. Third, to encourage men to discuss these areas of life and develop friendships which help them enjoy life more fully.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I faced the uncomfortable reality of seeing the areas where I struggle as a man. Men who have read the book expect I have mastered more of this than I have. But I am encouraged to hear how it helps others see manhood more clearly.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Patrick Morley (Man In The Mirror), Dr. Robert Lewis (Men's Fraternity), Glenn Murray (personal friend and an professional encourager of men) Rick Irwin, good friend in Pgh. John Eldredge, Gordon Dalby, authors. Bill McCartney.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I would like to help men truly identify with manhood. Whenever I speak on this subject, about half the men in the room buy the book. I know why. Their souls have been touched. I hope if you buy the book, the same will happen to you. -- Mark
