Located in: Wapato, WA Submitted: June 10, 2007 Tell us a little about yourself. When I first began writing, it was my desire to write a children's book. However, after taking several writing courses, I found myself on a different path and ended up writing Amish-themed women's fiction. I feel blessed to now be writing both women's fiction novels, as well as Amish- themed children's chapter books. What was your motivation behind this project? My motivation was to show my readers that an Amish child, who is raised without the benefit of many modern conveniences, can have fun and experience many of the same things that "English" children do. What do you hope folks will gain from this project? It is my hope that anyone who reads my new Rachel Yoder books will not only be entertained by the fun-loving character of 9 year old Rachel Yoder, but will gain a better understanding of the Amish way of life. Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? From the time I was was a young girl I've enjoyed reading entertaining fiction. During my growing up years, one of my favorite books was Nancy and Plum by Betty McDonald. As an adult, I especially enjoy reading historical novels by various Christian authors. Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: All children, whether Amish or English, have the same basic needs--to be loved and understood by their family and friends. Most of all, every child needs to know that God is their Father and loves them very much. Find Related Products |
