Publisher's Description

Ever felt like the last item left on the clearance rack?

As a successful patent attorney, Ashley Stockingdale has all the makings of a perfect catch-the looks, the brains, even a convertible. But at 31, she’s beginning to wonder if she’s been passed over for good.

Deciding to adopt a new attitude, Ashley suddenly becomes the romantic interest of three men within a matter of days. While her heart enjoys turning the tables on the dating game, the rest of her previously predictable world is being turned upside down. Is it more than Ashley can handle? Or is it exactly what she wants?

Award-wining author Kristin Billerbeck combines comedy with spunk to create a memorable story in What a Girl Wants--an all-too-realistic picture of a single girl’s search for being content with who she is...with or without a man.

Well, I'm going to add my glowing review to all the others here! This was a great book. (My friend and I just keep saying that..."Great book!") The story line flows smoothly - something is always happening, but it's not far-fetched or contrived. Ashley is truly a likable heroine, despite all her shortcomings and faults, and that alone made this book one in a million. The journey Ashley takes is really wonderful to read about, and embark on with her, especially for single people like myself. God's plan is always best, but at the same time, life is not a fairy tale, with a perfect ending. The journey continues...(and I am so buying the next two books!)

BUY THIS BOOK NOW and you'll still wish you hadn't waited so long. I'm buying a bunch as gifts - it's too good of a book not to share. The rest of the series is just as good. I adore this character and hate that there's only 3 books in this series. Don't wait to read it ...

Ashley Wilkes Stockingdale is single, 31, and caught on the treadmill of life. Her job as a corporate patent attorney keeps her busy 60 hours a week. Her free time is spent with the same singles she has been hanging out with at church for years. Ashley nicknames them "The Reasons." Her singles pastor used to laughingly say "There's single for a season, and single for a reason." Ashley found this hilarious too until ... "the day I turned thirty. Then my thoughts turned much darker, like hey, maybe I am single for a reason. That's a depressing day, when you realize Prince Charming isn't riding in on a white horse, and J Vernon McGee is starting to sound awfully handsome on the radio." Is Ashley the perfect Christian woman? Not by a long shot, and that's why I loved her! Is she self-absorbed? Absolutely, but God loves her and speaks to her anyway. Isn't that what we all need to remember? We are sinners saved by grace, and I am so thankful I don't have to be perfect in order to know Jesus or be used by Him. I greatly look forward to reading the further adventures of Ashley Stockingdale!

In this book, you will laugh alongside Ashley, a 31 yr old woman who is beginning to feel she's past her prime. Struggling with a demanding career, a not-so-ideal family, a church singles group, a married best friend, and infatuation, Ashley's life is anything but ordinary! An interesting mix of fashion sense, conversations with God, and the self-doubt all women have, this book is not to be missed!

Absolutely hilarious! I was wary of a chick lit read, but my friend bought it and said I just HAD to borrow it. I was shocked! Chick lit has always bored me, but Ashley is so NOT perfect & she's even self-centered at times. I mean, come on! Reality check: If you're single, of course you're going to be selfish...why wouldn't you be! Ashley's character is real. I can't stand the novels where the heroine is a goody-two-shoes and always doing right. Ashley even has a thing for purses & shoes, AND indulges in what my friend & I call "retail therapy". You have a bad day (or bad experience)& it just helps you feel better about yourself to go get a new undergarment (or shoes, purse, etc). Most single girls will be able identify with her emotional roller coaster...the 3rd wheel feeling in the presence of married friends, yet also knowing the joy of being single and a woman. A great read!
