Product Description

Pinned to the NIV, The Holman Bible Commentary series presents Scripture for the person who needs either a quick understanding of a specific book of the Bible, or for someone who is more interested in committing to an extended study. Whichever situation you may be in, this series will provide you, the main idea of a passage or book, quick notes to detail your study, succinct summaries, and further details, if they apply to your study.

Publisher's Description

No other reference series gets to the heart of the Old Testament as efficiently as the Holman Old Testament Commentary. When a reader’s time allows, the series offers a detailed interpretation based on the popular New International Version text. When time is short, it delivers an essential understanding of the Old Testament with unsurpassed clarity and convenience.

1,2 Samuel is the final volume in the 32-book Old and New Testament series and insightfully magnifies the grace of God that is greater than all our sin through the story of David who, despite his failings, would become a man after God’s own heart and the model for all future kings.

I teach Power Source on Sunday mornings and am always looking for extra material to help me. I find that the Holman Old Testament Resource is an excellent study guide with illustrations I can use. It is very easy to understand and yet has a very powerful message.
