For many of our customers, the "Voice of CBD" is the voice of one of our many Customer Service Representatives. These are the friendly people you typically speak with if you call to place an order or have a question about an order you've already placed. Trained to handle a variety of questions and situations, folks in this large department provide the backbone of our ability to serve our customers quickly and efficiently. Whether you call or e-mail, you'll get solid answers soon!

Since we carry such a variety of items, people are going to have questions. "What's a good book that explains the customs of the Bible? Which is the best Hebrew dictionary? What's a good Math curriculum for a homeschooled 5th grader? How many lessons does this small group Bible study have?" These are just a few of the multitudes of questions our Product Specialists and Homeschool Specialists receive daily. They are the helpful, friendly folks who perform feats of wonder when it comes to helping people find what they need. Because CBD has been serving customers for 22 years, we've built up quite a lot of knowledge and experience. The Product Specialist/Homeschool Specialist Group is a good example. They're a valuable resource in the online world because sometimes folks have questions that require specific answers. That's where these folks come in. They are the product answer people. They receive questions via e-mail, phone, or post from customers all over the world. Here one of our Product Specialists has received a rare unanswerable question. "I'm sorry sir, I'm afraid I can't tell you if the Red Sox will ever win the World Series…How about a Bible prophecy question?"

The Customer Research Department handles all of our written correspondence as well as orders requiring special treatment such as international orders. International orders often require particular knowledge of the country to which the order will ship. For instance, some missionaries serving in countries particularly hostile to Christianity may request that any boxes we send to them not include the word "Christian" printed on the outside. This often involves the altering of the shipping procedure. Each member of the Customer Research team is in charge of a particular section of the globe and is required to be familiar with the countries within their area. Closer to home, special situations may include orders being shipped into federal prisons. For security reasons, books going to some prisons are required to have the stiff hardcovers removed before an institution allows delivery to an inmate. These are just a couple of the sorts of varied situations the Customer Research department deals with daily. Thankfully, Dave (as well as most folks in this department) continues to turn down lucrative job offers from the FBI.

After the order is placed, whether by website, phone, mail or fax, the order is printed on a ticket and goes to our warehouse to be completed. The first step in the warehouse is choosing a box for the order. For our customers, only the best boxes are chosen. Those that are not yet ready are left to ripen to a golden brown. Here's a healthy crop almost ready to be harvested and used.

The printed order ticket is placed in a box of the correct size to accommodate the order.

Each box passes by this machine which gives it a sticker directing the box into the areas of the warehouse it needs to go. With well over 2 miles of box moving tracks winding through the warehouse, any steps saved become less time folks wait to get their order!
